First State Bank of Colorado was established on July 19, 1930, under the name The First State Bank of Hotchkiss. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes and expansions. A significant transformation occurred on June 30, 2010, when the institution changed its name to First State Bank of Colorado and acquired two other banks: Colorado Mountain Bank located in Westcliffe, Colorado, and Paonia State Bank in Paonia, Colorado. The bank continued to operate until it was merged on October 22, 2019, becoming part of United Business Bank, based in Walnut Creek, California.
