First State Bank of Colfax

The First State Bank of Colfax was established on January 1, 1933, under the original name of The First National Bank in Colfax. The bank underwent a significant reorganization on June 29, 1992, when it changed its name to First State Bank of Colfax, altered its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), changed its chartering agency to state, and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. On March 10, 1980, the bank moved its main office to 100 North Walnut Street in Colfax, Iowa. The institution remained operational until December 2, 2019, when it merged with Bank Iowa, based in West Des Moines, Iowa.
