History Of First State Bank and Trust
First State Bank and Trust is a financial institution that was established on December 22, 1934, under the name The First State Bank of Tonganoxie in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Initially, it became a member of the Federal Reserve System on April 5, 1935, and operated as a state-chartered bank. However, on February 18, 1963, the bank withdrew from the Federal Reserve System and changed its regulatory oversight to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), reflecting a shift in its operational framework. On June 9, 1982, the institution underwent a name change to First State Bank and Trust. Over the following decades, the bank continued to expand through acquisitions, including Home State Bank of Clearwater in Clearwater, Kansas, on July 6, 1995, and The Bank of Perry in Perry, Kansas, on July 10, 2002.
