First South Bank was established on August 19, 1996, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The institution initially operated under the name First South Bank and underwent a series of relocations for its main office. On June 23, 1997, the main office moved to 1450 Reidville Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and later, on October 1, 1999, it was relocated to 1450 John B White Sr Boulevard, also in Spartanburg. Over the years, First South Bank developed and expanded its services before being merged into First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company on May 1, 2019. Following the merger, First South Bank ceased to exist as an independent entity and became part of the larger banking institution, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.
