In 1985, the bank expanded its operations by acquiring Swift County Bank in Benson, Minnesota, and then changed its name to First Security State Bank in 1986. The bank continued its growth trajectory by acquiring Lakeland Savings Bank, F.S.B. in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, in 1990. On October 1, 1997, it adopted the name First Security Bank - Sleepy Eye. Subsequent acquisitions included First Security Bank - Renville in 2008 and First Security Bank - Evansville in 2011. The bank's main office was relocated on April 21, 2023, to 100 Main Street East in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.
