First Savings Bank of Hegewisch, established on January 1, 1914, originally operated as the General Pulaski Building and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes, including adopting the name First Savings and Loan Association of Hegewisch in 1940, which was later changed to First Federal Savings of Hegewisch in 1982. In 1993, the bank transitioned to a mutual savings bank structure and modified its name to First Savings Bank of Hegewisch. The chartering agency changed from the Office of Thrift Supervision to state regulation during this time.
