History Of First PREMIER Bank
First PREMIER Bank, originally established as Citizens Bank and Trust Company in 1914, has undergone several name changes and structural transformations throughout its history. In 1939, the institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its name to Citizens Bank. By 1967, it transitioned to a national bank, rebranding as United National Bank. The bank further evolved, changing its name to United National Bank of South Dakota in 1971 and then acquiring several banks, including Union Bank & Trust and Rosholt Community Bank. In the mid-1980s, the institution adopted the name First Interstate Bank of South Dakota and continued to expand by acquiring Farmers State Bank and SunBank of South Dakota. In 1992, the name was updated to First Premier Bank, with a change in regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. The bank officially became known as First PREMIER Bank in 1996.
