History Of First Peoples Bank
First Peoples Bank was established on January 12, 1926, originally under the name The Peoples Bank of Mullens. The bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its classification to a state-chartered bank on May 5, 1944. Over the years, it underwent several name changes and organizational shifts, including a significant rebranding to First Peoples Bank, Inc. on June 30, 2008. In 1990, the bank moved its main office to 200 First Street in Mullens, West Virginia. First Peoples Bank experienced further consolidation when it merged with Summit Community Bank, Inc. in Moorefield, West Virginia on January 1, 2019. Ultimately, on May 3, 2024, it merged again, this time becoming part of Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Company located in Alexandria, Virginia.
