History Of First Palmetto Bank

First Palmetto Bank, originally established as Palmetto State Savings Bank of South Carolina in 1904, has undergone several transformations throughout its history. In 1980, the institution acquired Patriot Federal Savings and Loan Association located in Lake City, South Carolina. Subsequent changes included a reorganization as a Stock Savings & Loan in 1987, a shift to a Stock Savings Bank in 1990, and a name change to First Palmetto Savings Bank, F.S.B. on the same day it acquired First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Camden, South Carolina. Later that year, it also acquired First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Darlington, South Carolina. The institution's primary federal regulatory agency transitioned from the Office of Thrift Supervision to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011. As of May 1, 2012, First Palmetto Bank changed its name to First Palmetto Bank, shifted its chartering agency to the state level, and became a state-chartered bank regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), no longer being a member of the Federal Reserve System.

My mother, who has dementia, is under my care, and I hold a power of attorney (POA) for her. Despite sending the POA to the corporate office for review, they have refused to place it on file.

He completed all the paperwork and met with me anytime I needed to complete this process in a very short timeframe. I was pressed for time because the other bank I had started with kept changing the rate. Not First Palmetto! W... Read more
