First Palmetto Bank, originally established as Palmetto State Savings Bank of South Carolina in 1904, has undergone several transformations throughout its history. In 1980, the institution acquired Patriot Federal Savings and Loan Association located in Lake City, South Carolina. Subsequent changes included a reorganization as a Stock Savings & Loan in 1987, a shift to a Stock Savings Bank in 1990, and a name change to First Palmetto Savings Bank, F.S.B. on the same day it acquired First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Camden, South Carolina. Later that year, it also acquired First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Darlington, South Carolina. My mother, who has dementia, is under my care, and I hold a power of attorney (POA) for her. Despite sending the POA to the corporate office for review, they have refused to place it on file.

I was pressed for time because the other bank I had started with kept changing the rate. Not First Palmetto! W... Read more
