First New Mexico Bank, originally established as Deming National Bank on April 30, 1962, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On November 5, 1973, the bank relocated its main office to 300 South Gold Avenue in Deming, New Mexico, and subsequently changed its name to Deming National Bank. On June 1, 1986, the institution redefined its charter to operate under state regulations, withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, and renamed itself First New Mexico Bank. In a further development on January 18, 1991, First New Mexico Bank acquired Silver Savings Association, a financial institution located in Silver City, New Mexico.
