History Of First Neighborhood Bank
First Neighborhood Bank, originally established as The First National Bank of Spencer on February 8, 1912, has undergone several name changes and regulatory transitions throughout its history. The institution moved its main office to 222-224 Market Street in Spencer, West Virginia, on April 9, 1970, and later relocated to 216 Market Street in the same city on October 12, 1971. In 1998, it changed its name to First National Bank. After nearly eight years, on November 1, 2006, the bank adopted the name First Neighborhood Bank, shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and changed its class to a state-chartered bank, withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System.
