First Nebraska Bank of Wayne was established in 1885 under the original name The First National Bank of Wayne. The bank underwent several changes over the years, including a relocation of its main office to Main Street in Wayne, Nebraska, in February 1990. In November 2007, the main office was moved again to 411 East 7th Street in Wayne. On December 5, 2012, the institution changed its name to First Nebraska Bank of Wayne, switched its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), transitioned to a state chartered bank, and withdrew from the Federal Reserve System. On February 7, 2015, First Nebraska Bank of Wayne merged with Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust, which is located in Norfolk, Nebraska.
