The bank underwent a significant name change in September 1986, adopting its current name, First Nebraska Bank. Throughout its history, the bank has expanded through various acquisitions, most notably in February 1988, when it acquired multiple branches, including First Nebraska Bank in Decatur, Brainard, and other locations in Nebraska. In August 1989, First Nebraska Bank further consolidated its presence by acquiring another First Nebraska Bank located in Arcadia.
