History Of FNB South
FNB South, previously known as Citizens State Bank, was established on February 15, 1950. The institution underwent several name changes and regulatory adjustments throughout its history. On January 3, 1974, it changed its name to The First National Bank of Alma and became a member of the Federal Reserve System while also changing its chartering agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The main office was relocated to West 12th Street in Alma, Georgia, on the same date. In 2001, the bank rebranded itself as First National Bank South, which remained until December 31, 2017, when it adopted the name FNB South. This change coincided with a reclassification to a state-chartered bank, a withdrawal from membership in the Federal Reserve System, and a change in the primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
