First National Bank of South Miami

The First National Bank of South Miami was established on April 3, 1952, under the original name The Bank of South Miami. On October 31, 1960, it changed its name to First Bank & Trust Co. of South Miami. A significant transformation took place on August 16, 1962, when the institution became a national bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency and chartering agency to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. After more than six decades of operations, the First National Bank of South Miami merged with United Community Bank in Greenville, South Carolina, on July 1, 2023.
