History Of First National 1870

First National 1870, originally established as The First National Bank of Santa Fe on December 13, 1870, is a historical financial institution that underwent several name changes and mergers throughout its existence. In 1972, the main office was relocated to The Plaza West in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This bank was renamed Banquest/First National Bank of Santa Fe in June 1984 and subsequently changed its name to The First National Bank of Santa Fe in April 1988. Over the years, the institution expanded through acquisitions, including FirstBank of Breckenridge on March 14, 2008, and both Mile High Banks and Bank of the Rio Grande, National Association on November 1, 2013. The main office moved to various locations, including a notable relocation to 2101 Mountain Road Suite B, Albuquerque, New Mexico, in November 2013, and earlier to 62 Lincoln Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico, on May 28, 2010. Ultimately, on June 19, 2017, First National 1870 merged with Sunflower Bank, National Association, based in Denver, Colorado, marking the end of its independent operations.

Watch out for the balance fees. This bank used to locally owned and operated, now run by a corporation. They prefer larger balances in order to make a profit and do not alert you when you fall below the balance minimum.
