History Of First Minnesota Bank

First Minnesota Bank was established on October 10, 1881, originally named The First National Bank of Glencoe. Throughout its history, the bank underwent several key changes, including a name change to First Minnesota Bank, National Association on October 1, 1995, following the acquisition of the First Bank of Minnesota in Hutchinson, Minnesota. The bank's main office was relocated to Glencoe, Minnesota that same year. In 2005, significant changes occurred as the institution withdrew from the Federal Reserve System and transformed into a state-chartered bank regulated by the FDIC. The bank moved its main office to Minnetonka, Minnesota in October 2000 and again in October 2015. In January 2013, it expanded further by acquiring 1st Regents Bank in Andover, Minnesota through a government-assisted merger. Ultimately, on August 17, 2019, First Minnesota Bank merged with CorTrust Bank National Association, based in Mitchell, South Dakota, effectively ending its independent operations.
