First Midwest Bank of the Ozarks is a financial institution based in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Founded on August 29, 1964, as the First National Bank of Poplar Bluff, the bank underwent several name and regulatory changes over the years. On March 31, 1988, the bank changed its name to First Midwest Bank of Poplar Bluff and transitioned to being regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The bank further expanded by acquiring Puxico State Bank in Puxico, Missouri, on July 1, 1987.
