First Kansas Bank, originally established on December 30, 1961, as The First National Bank in Hoisington, underwent significant changes in its organizational structure and branding over the years. On November 3, 1977, the bank changed its name to First Kansas Bank and transitioned its chartering agency to a state-level authority, simultaneously withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The bank expanded through acquisitions, most notably acquiring Farmers State Bank in Beaver, Kansas, and The Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Claflin, Kansas, on January 1 and January 3 of 1989, respectively.
