History Of First Guaranty Bank
First Guaranty Bank, originally established as Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. on March 12, 1934, became a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System on January 3, 1956. The institution underwent several significant changes, including a name change to First Guaranty Bank on November 2, 1971, and a transition to full trust powers on March 28, 1972, when it also withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The main office of First Guaranty Bank has moved multiple times, with notable relocations to 100 East Thomas Street and later to 400 Guaranty Square in Hammond, Louisiana. Over the years, the bank expanded through acquisitions, including the purchase of First Southwest Bank in Jennings, Louisiana, in December 1999, First Woodlands Bank in Homer, Louisiana, in January 2001, and Homestead Bank in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, in July 2007. Went to the First Guaranty Bank on 2111 West Thomas Street in Hammond on my lunch hour and stood in line for 35 minutes. Two women at the drive in and no one at the front. The women in the drive thru had to work both front and drive through. People left the bank they got so agravated. Need to improve this.... Read more
