First Financial Bank was established on January 1, 1934, under the original name of First State Bank of Sharon. Over the decades, the bank underwent several changes in its operations and locations. On September 30, 1989, the main office moved to Main Street in Sharon, North Dakota. The bank continued to evolve, relocating its main office multiple times, first to 211 Main Avenue in Sharon on October 22, 1999, and then to 312 Main Street in Sharon on May 13, 2005. On April 12, 2011, the institution changed its name to First Financial Bank and subsequently moved its main office to 205 Main Avenue in Aneta, North Dakota, on April 18, 2011. Ultimately, on May 13, 2017, First Financial Bank merged with First United Bank based in Park River, North Dakota, marking the end of its independent operations.
