History Of First Fidelity Bank
First Fidelity Bank is a South Dakota-based financial institution established on January 1, 1905, originally under the name Burke State Bank. In 1940, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, becoming a state-chartered bank. On January 1, 1974, the institution rebranded as First Fidelity Bank. Over the years, it expanded its operations through several acquisitions, including First Fidelity Bank in Murdo and Colome on June 2, 1986, followed by Ranchers National Bank of Winner on June 11, 1990. The main office was relocated to Main Street in Burke, South Dakota, on September 30, 1989. Most recently, on October 6, 2023, First Fidelity Bank acquired Dakota Prairie Bank in Fort Pierre, South Dakota.
