First Fidelity Bank, originally established as Commercial Bank, National Association on July 1, 1981, has undergone several changes and expansions throughout its history. The bank initially operated as a national association and was supported by government assistance during financial difficulties in the late 1980s. Over the years, it has expanded through various acquisitions, including City National Bank & Trust Company in Norman, Oklahoma, in September 1992, and Community Bank & Trust Company in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, in September 1996. Significant growth occurred in the 2000s with the acquisition of multiple institutions, such as Edmond Bank and Trust in November 2006 and Western Security Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona, in June 2007. After acquiring Sunrise Bank of Arizona as part of a government-assisted merger in August 2013, First Fidelity Bank made a series of operational changes culminating on December 15, 2016, when it changed its name to First Fidelity Bank, shifted its regulatory oversight to the Federal Reserve, and altered its chartering agency to state level.
