Initially founded under its original name, the institution underwent a significant rebranding on April 30, 1988, when it became known as First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Wakeeney. In the following years, the institution saw a change in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. Additionally, on September 30, 1986, its main office was relocated to 229 Main Street in Wakeeney, Kansas. The financial institution continued to operate until April 1, 2017, when it merged and became part of Lyons Federal Bank, based in Lyons, Kansas.
