History Of First Federal Savings Bank of Washington
First Federal Savings Bank of Washington, established in 1895 as the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Washington, is a community bank located in Washington, Indiana. The bank underwent several significant changes throughout its history, including a name change to First Federal Savings Bank of Washington on April 1, 2006. The main office was relocated twice, first to 411 South State Road 57 in 2006 and then to its current location at 439 South State Road 57 on December 9, 2011. Regulatory changes included a shift to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in July 2011 and later to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) by the end of 2018, when it also changed its organizational type to a Mutual Savings Bank and its chartering agency to state supervision. Additionally, on July 31, 1981, the bank expanded its operations by acquiring the Loogootee Federal Savings and Loan Association in Loogootee, Indiana.
