In 1987, the bank expanded its operations by acquiring First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Natchitoches, Louisiana. This was followed by the acquisition of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Allen Parish in Oakdale, Louisiana, on October 29, 2004. The institution rebranded itself as First Federal Bank of Louisiana on March 20, 2002. Additionally, on March 31, 2006, the bank relocated its main office to 1135 Lake Shore Drive in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
