History Of First Federal Bank of Kansas City
First Federal Bank of Kansas City is a mutual savings bank that was established on July 1, 1934, originally named First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Kansas City. Over the decades, the institution has undergone several name changes and organizational shifts. In 1981, it expanded through the acquisition of Heritage Federal Savings and Loan Association of Kansas City. The bank transitioned to the name First Federal Bank, FSB, in 1995. On January 28, 2014, it was renamed First Federal Bank of Kansas City. A significant acquisition occurred on April 30, 2016, when it acquired Inter-State Federal Savings and Loan Association of Kansas City. The bank's main office relocated to 6900 North Executive Drive in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 30, 2000, before moving again on March 1, 2022, to 1255 Southeast Oldham Parkway in Lee's Summit, Missouri. That same day, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and reclassified itself as an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank under state chartering authority.
