History Of First Farmers and Merchants Bank
First Farmers and Merchants Bank, originally established as Farmers & Merchants Bank on January 1, 1909, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1944, the institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System and subsequently shifted its regulatory oversight from the Federal Reserve to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1946. In 1950, it moved its main office to 816 South Garden Street in Columbia, Tennessee, and changed its name to Farmers and Merchants Bank. The bank then transitioned to a national charter on July 1, 1954, becoming First Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Columbia and again a member of the Federal Reserve System. Over the years, the bank expanded through acquisitions, including The Bank of Loretto in 1985, Farmers & Merchants Bank in White Bluff, Tennessee, in 1999, and Peoples and Union Bank in Lewisburg, Tennessee, in 2001. 1st framers banks rob the poorest ppl among us. If you overdraw they DO NOT notify you for a week or more while charging $5 per day every day its overdrafted plus the overdraft fee. How many rich ppl do you see overdraft ? Get the picture ? No one should do business with a con bank. THEY CARE ABOUT NO ONE. Plus it doesn't matter whom is at fault THE POOR PAYS.... Read more
I use this banks ATM all the time. I don't have an account with them but obviously I needed cash. THEIR machine are my debit card and now they are telling me I have to cancel my card and get a new one. They would be able to just give it back if I were one of their customers though. So I guess they aren't a fan of outsiders using their ATM. I'm not happy with them at all... Read more
