The institution adopted its current name, First Community Bank, on October 1, 2012, coinciding with a transition to a state-chartered bank and a withdrawal from membership in the Federal Reserve System. This shift also involved a change in its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Following this reorganization, First Community Bank expanded its footprint through a series of acquisitions, including Newberry Federal Savings Bank in Newberry, South Carolina, on October 1, 2004, The Bank of Camden in Camden, South Carolina, on June 9, 2006, and Savannah River Banking Company in Aiken, South Carolina, on February 1, 2014.
