First Commerce Bank was established on January 30, 2006, originally under the name Northern State Bank. The bank underwent a name change to First Commerce Bank on June 7, 2011. Shortly thereafter, on June 24, 2011, the main office was relocated to 105 River Avenue in Lakewood, New Jersey. Prior to this move, the main office had been situated at 530 Piermont Road in Closter, New Jersey, with that relocation taking place on November 24, 2008. The bank officially adopted the name First Commerce Bank on June 25, 2011.
