Originally named First Capital Bank, the institution underwent several regulatory and operational changes throughout its history. On January 2, 2015, First Capital Bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), transitioned to a commercial bank organizational type, altered its bank class to a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System (FRS), and updated its chartering agency to the state level. The main office was relocated on the same day to 909 South Main Street in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
