First Bank & Trust

First Bank & Trust, originally established in 1887 as Edgar County Savings and Loan Association, underwent several name and organizational changes throughout its history. In 1990, the institution transitioned to First Federal Bank, FSB, after acquiring First Federal Savings Bank, FSB, and subsequently relocated its main office to 206 South Central Avenue in Paris, Illinois. By July 1, 1995, it changed its name to First Bank & Trust, S.B., switched its organization type to a mutual savings bank, and had its primary federal regulatory agency changed to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In 2001, the organization type shifted again to a stock savings bank. On April 1, 2015, it rebranded as First Bank & Trust and converted its status to a commercial bank, classified as a state-chartered bank, not a member of the Federal Reserve System. The main office was moved to 101 South Central Avenue, Paris, Illinois on July 11, 2006. The bank expanded its operations by acquiring Rantoul First Bank, S.B. in Rantoul, Illinois on October 1, 2005. Ultimately, on August 10, 2018, First Bank & Trust merged with First Mid Bank & Trust, National Association, which is located in Mattoon, Illinois.
