First Bank & Trust East Texas was established on June 18, 1953, originally operating under the name Diboll State Bank. Over the years, First Bank & Trust East Texas continued to grow and adapt until it merged with Southside Bank based in Tyler, Texas, on November 30, 2017, at which point it changed its institution name to Southside Bank.
