History Of First Bank Richmond
First Bank Richmond, originally established as First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Richmond in 1887, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1993, the institution transitioned from a mutual savings bank to First Bank Richmond, S.B., and later to First Bank Richmond, National Association in 1998. This change marked a shift to a commercial bank organization type and a new regulatory oversight by The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In 2016, the bank further expanded by acquiring Mfsb, National Association located in Sidney, Ohio. By April 21, 2017, First Bank Richmond changed its status to a state-chartered bank, withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, and adopted its current name, marking its regulatory oversight transition to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). That same day, it also changed its institution class and chartering agency to reflect its new status. The bank's main office was relocated to 20 North 9th Street in Richmond, Indiana, on June 1, 1998.
