History Of First Bank of Montana
First Bank of Montana was established on December 15, 1924, under the name First National Bank of Lewistown. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes. In 2007, it rebranded itself as First Bank of Montana and simultaneously moved its main office to 224 West Main Street in Lewistown, Montana. That same year, the bank acquired Western Bank of Chinook National Association and adjusted its regulatory status to become a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System. However, on April 19, 2011, the bank withdrew from the Federal Reserve System and shifted its regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On April 30, 2012, First Bank of Montana merged with Glacier Bank, headquartered in Kalispell, Montana. This merger culminated in a name change to Glacier Bank on January 1, 2018, marking the end of the First Bank of Montana identity.
