History Of First Bank of Coastal Georgia
First Bank of Coastal Georgia, originally established as The Pembroke State Bank in 1907, underwent several significant changes throughout its history. On January 17, 1972, the institution changed its name to The Pembroke State Bank. In August 1985, the main office was relocated to 402 West North Bacon Street in Pembroke, Georgia. On March 1, 2001, the bank transitioned to a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. However, on the same day, it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. Subsequently, on March 14, 2007, the bank withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and altered its classification to a state chartered bank, no longer a member of the Federal Reserve System. It adopted its current name, First Bank of Coastal Georgia, on August 3, 1994.
