History Of First Bank
First Bank, originally established as Southwest Mississippi Bank on June 25, 1895, has undergone several name and structural changes throughout its history. The institution acquired Citizens Savings Bank in Magnolia, Mississippi, on January 3, 1972, marking one of its early expansions. In 1981, it changed its name to First Bank of Southwest Mississippi following the acquisition of the Bank of McComb in McComb, Mississippi, and gained full trust powers. Subsequently, it simplified its name to First Bank on January 14, 1983, after acquiring South Central Bank in Silver Creek, Mississippi, on January 3 of that year. The bank relocated its main office several times, with significant moves to Third Avenue and South Broadway in McComb on May 1, 1981, and later to 105 South Broadway Street on November 4, 2014.
