First Bank and Trust

First Bank and Trust was established on May 17, 1991, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Initially named First Bank and Trust, the institution expanded its operations through a series of acquisitions, including First City Bank in New Orleans on the same day it was established. The bank subsequently relocated its main office several times, moving to 1100 Poydras Street in September 1991, followed by a move to 909 Poydras Street in December 1991. In December 2004, the main office was moved again to 1450 Poydras Street, Suite 2100, New Orleans, Louisiana. Over the years, First Bank and Trust acquired several other financial institutions, including Metro Bank in Kenner, Louisiana, in March 2001; Peoples Bank of Louisiana in Amite, Louisiana, and First Bank and Trust of Mississippi in Winona, Mississippi, both on December 31, 2008; and Globe Homestead Savings Bank in Metairie, Louisiana, in February 2009. In April 1999, the bank changed its trust powers to full trust powers. Ultimately, on March 1, 2022, First Bank and Trust merged with BankPlus, based in Belzoni, Mississippi, marking the end of its independent operations.
