Financial Security Bank was established on January 1, 1906, under the original name State Bank of Kerkhoven. The bank operated for many years, serving the local community in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. On December 30, 1989, the main office was relocated to Main Street in Kerkhoven. Subsequently, on July 21, 2005, the institution changed its name to Financial Security Bank. The main office later moved again on March 31, 2006, to 1011 Atlantic Avenue in Kerkhoven. After nearly two decades of operating under its new name, Financial Security Bank merged with Bravera Bank on February 12, 2024, becoming part of the larger financial institution based in Dickinson, North Dakota.
