History Of Fifth Third Bank

Fifth Third Bank, National Association, is a financial institution with roots tracing back to its establishment in 1865 as The Citizens National Bank & Trust Company of Piqua in Ohio. Over the years, the bank underwent several name changes, including becoming The Miami Citizens National Bank & Trust Company in 1963 and later Citizens Heritage Bank, National Association in 1987. The bank has expanded significantly through multiple acquisitions, including notable entities such as The Fifth Third Bank of Western Ohio in 1991 and Capital Bank National Association in 2001. In December 2000, it adopted the name Fifth Third Bank, consolidating its identity. Further growth was marked by the acquisition of several banks throughout the early 2000s, culminating in the acquisition of Mb Financial Bank, National Association in May 2019. On November 14, 2019, Fifth Third Bank transitioned its regulatory status to a national bank under the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and adopted its current full name. This is a horrible bank. The customer service is terrible. You can NEVER get your online banking set up. It tells you to call the 800 number. Nobody on the other line knows what they're talking about. I was told to call back from my cell phone so they can verify me. I did that and then the next person I talk to said I have to wait two weeks for them to verify my number. I asked why and she told me... Read more
