History Of Farmers State Bank

Farmers State Bank was established on May 18, 1918, in Wallace, Nebraska. The institution has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. Initially operating as a member of the Federal Reserve System, it changed its regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on February 2, 1971, while also withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System. On August 23, 1996, it rejoined the Federal Reserve System as a state-chartered bank and changed its primary regulatory agency back to the Federal Reserve. The bank's main office was relocated to Main Street in Wallace on March 26, 1977, and later to 234 South Commercial Avenue in Wallace on March 31, 2006. In a significant development, Farmers State Bank merged with First State Bank on July 9, 2016, becoming part of this new entity based in Gothenburg, Nebraska. The institution underwent a rebranding and officially changed its name to Dayspring Bank on June 5, 2023.
