Farmers State Bank, originally established as The Farmers State Bank of Stuttgart, Kansas, on January 1, 1909, has undergone several changes and transitions throughout its history. The institution changed its name to Farmers State Bank on May 8, 1934, coinciding with a relocation of its main office to Main Street in Stuttgart, Kansas. The bank continued to operate from this location until December 31, 1989, when it moved to a new main office also situated on Main Street in Stuttgart. In 1996, the bank relocated again to 110 West State Street in Phillipsburg, Kansas, where it remains today. As part of its regulatory evolution, Farmers State Bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System on November 2, 1998, and subsequently changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve on the same date.
