Farmers & Merchants Bank is a financial institution that was established on January 1, 1908, under the original name Farmers and Merchants Bank of Timberville, Inc. Located in Timberville, Virginia, the bank underwent several name changes throughout its history. In 1973, it changed its name to Farmers and Merchants Bank of Timberville, Inc., followed by another change in 1974 to Farmers and Merchants Bank of Rockingham. The institution became a member of the Federal Reserve System on April 1, 1981, and on July 2, 1984, it adopted its current name, Farmers & Merchants Bank. The bank's trust powers were expanded to full status on August 12, 1975.
