Farmers & Merchants Bank was established on February 17, 1948, originally bearing the name Farmers & Merchants Bank. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes, including a relocation of its main office to Parker Avenue and Lane Street in Brooklet, Georgia, on November 11, 1968. The institution changed its name to Farmers & Merchants Bank on October 18, 1976, further solidifying its identity. On January 7, 1991, the bank moved its main office again to 139 and 201 North Main Street in Statesboro, Georgia. Ultimately, on May 1, 2019, Farmers & Merchants Bank merged with Morris Bank, located in Dublin, Georgia, and ceased to operate as a separate entity.
