History Of Farmers & Mechanics Bank
Farmers & Mechanics Bank was established on March 31, 1869, as The Farmers and Mechanics Bank. It underwent several name changes throughout its history, notably changing its name to Marquette Bank Illinois on June 1, 1999, and subsequently to Farmers & Mechanics Bank on April 26, 2002. In 2002, the bank also transitioned to becoming a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System, changing its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve on the same date. However, it withdrew from the Federal Reserve System on January 22, 1979. In a significant development, the bank acquired Brimfield Bank located in Brimfield, Illinois, on July 1, 2016. Eventually, on February 6, 2021, Farmers & Mechanics Bank merged and became part of CBI Bank & Trust, which is based in Muscatine, Iowa.
