History Of Farmers Bank & Trust
Farmers Bank & Trust, originally established as The Farmers State Bank in Albert, Kansas, on August 1, 1907, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On November 29, 1976, it changed its name to The Farmers State Bank, Albert, Kansas, and expanded its trust powers to full. In 1982, the institution rebranded as Farmers Bank & Trust, National Association, and transitioned to being chartered by The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency while also becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System. The main office was relocated to Second Avenue and Main Street in Albert, Kansas, on October 1, 1982. The bank continued to expand through acquisitions, including The Home State Bank in La Crosse, Kansas, in 1986, and The Bazine State Bank in Bazine, Kansas, in 1990. Further consolidations included The Kinsley Bank in Kinsley, Kansas, in 1996; Progress Bank of Missouri in Sullivan, Missouri, in 2008; and First National Bank & Trust Company in Larned, Kansas, in 2010. On December 1, 1987, the main office moved to 1017 Harrison Street in Great Bend, Kansas.
