Farmers Bank & Trust was established on January 1, 1914, under the name The Farmers National Bank of Atwood. On July 1, 1978, the institution underwent significant changes, including a name change to Farmers Bank & Trust and a shift in its regulatory status, becoming a state-chartered bank that is not a member of the Federal Reserve System.
