History Of Farmers and Merchants Bank
Farmers and Merchants Bank, established on July 5, 1949, in Milford, Nebraska, has undergone several significant changes and acquisitions throughout its history. Originally named Farmers and Merchants Bank, the institution officially changed its name to Farmers and Merchants Bank on November 30, 1970, when it also relocated its main office to 617 First Street in Milford. Over the following decades, the bank expanded its operations through a series of acquisitions, including the purchases of Home State Bank in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, and Farmers State Bank in Douglas, Nebraska, on October 8, 1992. Further growth occurred with the acquisitions of Nebraska State Bank in Weeping Water, Nebraska, and The Bank of Palmyra on the same day. In the ensuing years, the bank acquired The Bank of Wilber on October 26, 1995, and Security National Bank of Superior on January 8, 1998.
