History Of Fairport Savings Bank
Fairport Savings Bank was established on January 1, 1888, originally named Fairport Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes in name, organization type, and regulatory oversight. On December 31, 1999, it became known as Fairport Savings Bank and changed its organization type to a Stock Savings Bank, with the Office of Thrift Supervision serving as its chartering agency. Subsequently, on July 21, 2011, the bank transitioned its primary federal regulatory agency to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. On June 30, 2012, Fairport Savings Bank changed its regulatory oversight to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and reclassified as an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank. Finally, on May 1, 2020, Fairport Savings Bank merged with Evans Bank, National Association, based in Angola, New York, marking the end of its independent operation.
