History Of Fairmount Bank

Fairmount Bank was established on April 4, 1879, originally named Fairmount Savings and Loan Association. Over its history, the institution underwent several name changes and organizational transformations. On May 31, 1987, it changed its name to Fairmount Federal Savings Bank and adopted the status of a Mutual Savings Bank. The primary federal regulatory agency for the bank was changed to the Office of Thrift Supervision at that time. In subsequent years, the bank continued to evolve, moving its main office multiple times within Baltimore, Maryland, and reclassifying itself several times. On June 2, 2010, its organization type was changed to a Stock Savings Bank, and by November 15, 2013, it had shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Fairmount Bank acquired Fullerton Federal Savings Association on October 13, 2011. On May 1, 2019, Fairmount Bank merged with and became part of Orrstown Bank, located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, marking the end of its independent operations.
